Home Sweet Home

Home.

Sweet Home. Yes that was the only thing I could think of after driving 12 hours a day for 2 days straight over 1,500 miles and I think 6,000 total. After a whirlwind tour of the University of Houston, shooting 70 videos in three days, I was burnt out. It was a blast working with the students who helped me and making so many videos in a day I couldn’t remember half of them.  While I had a lot of fun, I was ready to get on the road. So after spending half the night before I left … Continue Reading

Reasonable Rides

Compared to the students at San Jose State, University of Oregon students really utilize the free ride aspect of this promotion much more. It’s almost as if the chance of winning a brand new Aveo5 is an afterthought to the complimentary taxi. On the first day of the promo, a student told me that he was already planning on getting a trip to the doctor’s office from me on Thursday. (If he makes it that long. It looked serious.)

Granted, the campuses’ layouts are very different, so it’s tough to make a fair comparison between … Continue Reading

Observations from the road

If your hotel room does not have a mini-fridge, one will magically appear on the last day of your 10-day stay. If you ask on the first day, they will probably give you the mini-fridge the first day of your 10-day stay. (The room I’m in now came with a mini-fridge and mini-microwave!)

If you are a college student, there is no such thing as jaywalking, and it is assumed that all traffic will stop in your presence as long as you walk in a cross walk, even if the sign says don’t walk. (I was once a college student.)

Vacation’s Over

After a little fun in the sun this past week, sadly my mini vacation is over.

But, that’s ok, I missed getting to know everyone. It’s not much fun in a new town without any friends. So it’s been fun getting out and making some new ones. Thanks to everyone who yells at me at the top of their lungs as I drive by, screaming “I did that!” It sounds like everyone is having a good time, and I am too.

I’m going to try and be good about letting everyone know where I am this week so you … Continue Reading

Oregon ignorance

Against all odds, I attended the U of O v. UCLA game on Saturday night. And right now, I want to make a prediction: Half the cab videos, at some point, will include passengers raising their arms in front of them, matching their finger tips together at the top, touching their thumbs below, and curling them together to form some sort of circley-shaped, hand-ring thingy. I haven’t quite figured out what it represents, but I’ll have all week to get educated by the students on all things … Continue Reading

On the Road Again…

Not that I was ever off the road, but I’m headed for a long open one now.

Just wanted to give a few thanks. First to the University Police for not pulling me over; not that I was doing anything wrong, but they sure looked at me funny driving around a green Aveo cab. Next, to those who went on rides; I had a lot of fun meeting you all, I want one of my riders to win the car, so KEEP VIEWING AND VOTING!!! Finally to the people who didn’t ride; sorry I couldn’t stay long enough for you … Continue Reading
